Art F200 Introduction
Hello!
My name is Reagan Deemer. I live in Kodiak Alaska, where I grew up and developed a passion for being in classrooms, studying biology, and dancing. I am a recent high school graduate of Kodiak High School. (I graduated in May of 2024) In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, fishing, and dancing, which allows me to connect with others and stay energized. If I’m not in the school, you can see me volunteering as an assistant coach for this year’s Kodiak High School dance team or dancing for fun at our local dance studio: Next Step Dance Kodiak. I am studying online at the University of Alaska Fairbanks to double major in biology and secondary education so I can complete my goal of becoming a 7th-grade science teacher.
I have a close relationship to art. I may not do it passionately all the time, but it is still a huge part of my life. As I said before, I am a dancer. Dance to me is a form of art in ways others don't understand or think of. While most people think of art as a physical object that usually tells a story, dance does the exact same. I dance to express myself and tell a story in an artistic way. I enjoy painting and drawing little doodles. I do not currently own any art, but I plan to do so when I get my own home when I graduate college in 3 to 4 years. I enjoy going to art shows and museums to see how others express themselves in different art-forms.
Below, you will see a piece of artwork that interests me. I am a fan of pop-art, so you may see a lot of those when I do art. Also below is a link that will lead you to a page of a bunch of pop-art. Please click and enjoy!

ReplyDeleteYes, dance is an art, but it falls under the "performing art" category as does music, theater and film.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with The Ukulele Fool about dance being a performing art, that does not make it any less of an art than pottery or sculpting. Dance is a beautiful art form in how it can tell a story in a mesmerizing way, appealing to the human eye as it tells a story. This, to me, is similar to how an illustrator tells a story with drawings in books. It is an art through and through.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Dance is a form of art. It tells a story and evokes emotion in a unique way. When it comes to owning artwork, I hope that I can have a few pieces on my wall in a few years.
